Helsinki Library

Helsinki Library, Inside Out This projects site and program was determined by the Helsinki library competition of 2011. This is a unique library project because part of the program is for live music and the other part is for typical library activities. I separated the program into a loud part and a quiet part. These two parts are separated by walls and glass but are connected by a park that runs through the building that provides a visual connection between the outside and the two parts of the program. The pattern on the building and the site was used to create the form and the openings. It also camouflages the form in the site to provide a visual escape from the typical reading of the surrounding buildings.
